AI is Already Here
Hey friends — Pat the Tech Guy here. Let’s talk about that two-letter acronym that’s been popping up everywhere: AI. It’s Already Here, but are we ready for it?
It’s not just for sci-fi movies anymore. Artificial Intelligence has officially moved in, rearranged the furniture, and made itself comfortable in our everyday lives — and especially in the world of tech. Whether you’re using ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas or letting it write half your work or school report, AI tools are changing how we create, communicate, and even think. And before you roll your eyes and say “not another robot revolution,” hear me out.
So What Is AI, Really?
At its core, AI is just smart software — tools trained on massive amounts of data to do things like:
- Generate text
- Create images, music, or video
- Transcribe audio
- Respond like a human in chat (hello there!)
You’re probably already using it and don’t even realize. Ever asked Siri to remind you to remind you to do something? That’s AI. Ever had YouTube recommend the perfect playlist? Yep, you guess it. AI Again.
The Tools I’m Using
Here are a few AI tools I’ve been testing out in my tech world:
- ChatGPT – Brainstorms, writes, summarizes, and even helps with gear comparisons
- Descript – Edit video/audio just by editing text
- Canva AI – Designs that help me stay on-brand (and on budget)
- Runway ML – Video tools that feel straight out of a Marvel movie
But What About Morality?
I get it — using AI is efficient and easy. However, I’m thinking about integrity, creativity, and the why behind the tech. It can be a powerful assistant, but it shouldn’t replace the inspiration of an artist or creator, or the authentic relationships and interactions with other humans. It’s a tool that should amplify our mission and task at hand, not replace the creativity of hard working people.
